Description

We are in dire need of solid insights that can inform our kid’s relationships with screens and reshape how we manage them in our children’s lives.

As parents, we are often caught in an exhausting daily battle, trying to pry our kids away from their devices. But what if the relentless pull of the screen isn’t just about the technology itself? While we are increasingly coming to understand the concerning impact of digital technologies on our youth, there is hardly any understanding of how screens affect their most important relationship of all: the one between us and them.

Restricting screen time alone will not address the root problem. We must first come to understand the relational dynamics that drive digital obsession. When attachment energy shifts horizontally to peers our kids’ devices are no longer just a toy nor a tool but become an emotional lifeline to their peer group, driving an around-the-clock obsession to stay connected.

In this one-off Auckland event, internationally renowned developmental psychologist Dr. Gordon Neufeld will deliver a profound paradigm shift for New Zealand parents. Dr. Neufeld will use his attachment puzzle pieces to make sense of screens, their intense pull on our children, and their insidious effect on family dynamics. By restoring the “vertical transmission” of the parent-child relationship, we can shield our kids from digital harm and ensure they find refuge with us rather than in a wounding online world.
