Christmas Lights and Church Open

Posted December 15th, 2021

Christmas Lights and Church Open,
9am to 6pm Daily.

COME AND SEE Christmas lights outside the entrance of our church and visit the church, open all week 9am to 6pm. No Franklyn Road or MOTAT this year but you can come to St G’s to reflect on the light of Christ coming into the world, place a prayer bauble on the tree and light a candle at the altar. A worshipful way to end this very challenging year. The lights outside the church are a reminder to our surrounding community that the light of Christ shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it.

Important Protocols
The church will be open from the BACK DOOR which is the door facing our Church Hall and Youth Rooms to enable better security. Please follow the protocols you would follow in other areas of our day to day life. Observing social distancing, the wearing of masks, hand sanitiser and sign in tracer app, which will be available on entrance.

We hope that this will be a precious time for reflection, prayer and to simply bask in God’s presence in our beautiful church space. If you have thoughts or questions please feel free to contact Josh.

3 categories – 1 weekend – 7 volcanos

The youth group are keen to contribute to the fundraising for the roof, and we’d love anyone who would like a challenge to join us!
The idea: Summit 7 volcanoes in a day (or as many as are reasonable for you), get people to sponsor you, raise heaps for the church roof!
Gathering in the Hall @ 9.00am for briefing and prayer.
6.00pm – Post Match Celebration – head along to the church hall for food, drink, highlights, lowlights and downloading of photos!

The volcanos: Mt St John, Mt Hobson, Mt Eden, Mt Albert, Te tatua-a-Riukiuta/Big King, Mt Roskill, One Tree Hill – When you get to the top of each Volcano, take a photo of yourself, the view, the group you walked with, a beautiful bush…. as your ‘proof’! We’ll download them at the end or you can send them through as you take them.

Category 1 – 28km Walk
Walking in between each volcano as well as walking up them
(5-7 hour walk).
Category 2 – 7 summits
Walk/run the summits, drive in between each one.
Category 3 – Sunday 5
Summit as many of the closest 5 as you feel able.

What now?
You’re keen as a bean to do the challenge???
Cool, Register now online.
You’ll also find hard copies of the rego forms and sponsorship
packs at the back of the church.
