Connections

Overseas Missions

We have long term mission partners in several countries and occasionally send individuals and teams on short term mission projects. The countries we are involved with include: Cambodia, Niger, Nepal, Philippines, Tanzania, France and Vanuatu.

Nepal Surgical Trip:

Ian and Jo Bissett and team are away in November/December to provide surgery for people in a remote part of Nepal who have very little access to medical care.

Please pray for their health and safety, for wisdom with medical decisions, and for God to fill them with love and compassion for each person they meet.

Thomas and Patricia

Thomas is an aircraft engineer with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). MAF flies to locations where there are no roads, very rough or dangerous roads. Tanzania is a huge country so MAF links in with taking supplies to hospitals, doing medical safaris, transporting evangelists and missionaries to remote locations. In the Masaai land an evangelist can be taken to 13 villages in 3 days – without MAF he would have to walk and take a whole month.

Patricia is a CMS mission partner and teaches at Holy Trinity Primary School, a local Diocesan school where the Tanzanian curriculum is taught in English. As the resource teacher she works along side the Kindergarten and Standard One teachers and encourages them to move away from chalk and talk style of teaching. She is the only non -Tanzanian in the school. Although her Kiswahili is adequate in most situations it is still difficult to chat with the teachers.

Vicki and Alistair

Are running a school for national and expat children in an area where there is limited access to education, in particular to secondary education. The school is staffed largely by expat teachers but national teachers are being trained to take up teaching roles in the school. The school has a roll of 200 students studying from Kindergarten to British IGCSE 'O' levels.

Becs

Becs is a registered nurse working at Kalene Mission Hospital which is in the northwest corner of Zambia. The hospital is located remotely, far from any major cities or towns. It has five wards, 180 beds and provides inpatient and outpatient care in maternity, paediatrics, general medicine, infectious diseases, malnutrition and surgery. The medical work provides a practical demonstration of God's love, through attending to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patients.

As one of the few registered nurse in the hospital, Becs oversees the men's ward, making assessments, diagnosing and treating patients. For more info look at my webpage - www.becsinzambia.blogspot.com

Deidre Jones

Dee is a nurse working at Mukinge Hospital. Mukinge Wards include male, female, maternity, acute paediatrics, chronic paediatrics (mostly malnutrition), eye and TB. Hospital has 200 beds, an active out-patient department and numerous support services. The hospital cares for 160-180 outpatients per day. "Local patients" travel as far as 5 days on foot / bike to reach the hospital, with a growing number of other patients coming to Mukinge's rural / remote setting from distant cities & towns. There are three full-time hospital chaplains at Mukinge, and the hospital has a strong evangelistic emphasis. Spiritual outreach is extended to inpatients as well as outpatients.
